Our Boy is Two

We really, really, really can't believe it, but our sweet baby boy is two years old. Happy birthday to James Foard Fisher. These past two years have been amazing because of you.

Swamp Hiking

Saturday turned out to be a beautiful early spring day in Charleston, so we took a hike around what used to be a massive rice plantation. Apparently rice farming was extremely hard work. Canals were dug by hand and I'm guessing many of the workers died from malaria. What's left now is a swamp that is a respite for all types of wildlife, including wood ducks, kingfishers, and many, many tropical looking ferns. Foard loved the fresh air and getting to run wild through the woods. Zeke loved all of the new smells. After our hike we stopped for lunch at SeeWee, one of our new favorite restaurants in the low country. They have checkered table cloths, cold beer, oysters and shrimp by the bucket, and live bluegrass music. You can bet the Fishers felt at home.

Snowy Christmas

Christmas could not have been better. Foard got to spend quality time with all of his Georgia grandparents and spent Christmas day in Blue Ridge. His second Christmas turned out to be an unusually white one, with 8 inches of snow falling from a very gray sky. He loved looking at the snow from the windows, but when we got him outside it was a little too cold for him. We spent four days snowed in the cabin but with new Christmas presents, meals prepared by Mimi, and (most importantly) great company, no one seemed to mind.

This Little Guy...

In the last few months, this little guy has moved to Charleston, started "school", become a beach bum, learned about 100 new words, found out that he's getting a little sister, undecorated a Christmas tree, and learned to refuse broccoli. It's been a busy fall for James Foard Fisher and his parents.
